TIPS FOR MIXING IT UP IN THE BEDROOM
Not in the way you think!
It’s no secret we all get tired of the same thing in the bedroom. We have got a list together of our top tips for mixing it up in the bedroom…. Mixing and matching that is!
Hot tip #1: Pattern mix.
Most people are scared to play around and mix patterns in fear of it clashing and becoming too much. Choosing the right patterns to mix is essential; mixing small scale with large scale prints across an assortment of pillow sizes and shapes makes for a balanced and interesting look. Finding a common colour within both prints is also a key in finding a match made in heaven.
Hot tip #2: Don’t be afraid of colour
The psychology of colour is scientifically proven to improve your moods. Adding colour to your room will instantly add personality, warmth and soul whilst grounding the room. Hues of warm copper, antique gold, walnut, indigo, smoke blue and deep fuschia ensure an inviting, warm ambience. On the other hand, soft duck egg, greys and pinks create a peaceful and restful oasis.
Once you have chosen the dominant or accent colour for your room, find complementary tones, textures and varying depths of that colour to tie it all together. Remember you don’t have to match everything.
Hot tip #3 Balance the bed
To bring all that pattern, texture and colour together to create a cohesive look can be tricky. It’s important to balance it all out. Working from top to bottom, arrange your pillows with the largest at the back, funnelling down to the smaller cushions at the front. This is the easiest trick to create a balanced bed. Placing a plain or a textured pillowcase in between two prints will make things more interesting and break it up. Adding a comforter or throw in a matching print or cohesive colour to the end of the bed helps to disperse the colour across the whole bed, balance it beautifully and finish off the look.
