self-care sunday: slow mornings, cosy nights

Good morning! Here is your friendly reminder to slow…… down. Read on for some simple practices in self-care to decompress this weekend.
Soothing tea rituals
The ritual of making a pot of tea embodies this principle perfectly. Choosing a fine loose-leaf blend, boiling the jug, waiting for the tea to steep while popping down a coaster and your favourite mug are all steps in a healthy ritual that proves good things take time. Take a quiet moment for yourself and clear your busy mind with each sip.

Candle-gazing
Reading this at night? Another practice that can bring you back to centre is a candle gazing meditation, or trataka in Sanskrit, meaning “to look” or “to gaze.” The practice asks us to look “intently with an unwavering gaze at a small point.” A simple technique, candle gazing is said to relieve mental stress, reduce anxiety, free your mind from negative thoughts, and sharpen your eyesight.
Meditation is one of the ways we can slow down, be present, and ground our energies, especially when life feels chaotic and challenging.
Light a candle, sit, and breathe.
Count your blessings
We have a colourful array of gorgeous journals and rollerball pens in-store - beautiful writing tools for starting a gratitude practice. Before you go to sleep, write down what you were grateful for that day. It might be one thing; it might be ten things. Creating an abundance mindset starts with the daily habit of being thankful. Remember, what you focus on, expands. You’ll be surprised how easy it is to list the good things off, once you get into the swing of it!
