In celebration of Worldwide Knit in Public Day, we’re gathering knitters of all skill levels to craft tiny hats, singlets, and cardigans for premature babies in Taranaki Base Hospital’s Neonatal Unit.
Whether you're a seasoned stitcher or just learning, you’re invited to be part of a fulfilling and creative event to help the tiniest fighters.
Date & Time: Saturday 14th June 10am – 2pm
Location: Bianca Lorenne Flagship Store, 311 Devon Street East, New Plymouth
What to Bring:
3.25mm needles (or all yarn and needles required if you are knitting your own pattern)
We will donate the yarn for beanies and singlets to the first 16 knitters who arrive and knit for a minimum of 30 minutes. If you plan to arrive later in the day, please be prepared with some yarn in case the donated supply has been allocated.
If you wish to knit your own pattern, please bring along the yarn and needles required. Our store has a wonderful selection of suitable yarn and needles for all projects.
IMPORTANT: For premature babies and newborns pure, very soft 100% wool yarn is important for their very fragile skin and to help them maintain even body heat. For lots of reasons acrylic is not okay to use for this purpose and we will be unable to donate any acrylic items.
The finished items will be delivered by us to the Taranaki Base Hospital Neonatal Unit.
